In this episode, we go from our kids' talents to the growth of stand-up comedy and the comedians who got us hooked. That blends into HBO's Entourage and then we land heavy on Marvel and D23's X-Men casting. Inde Navarrette being Rogue and how Dr. Doom will reshape the MCU. Then ended up on DC's Lanterns show, somehow.
Chocolate starfish.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that wouldn't make that.
SPEAKER_01It's going. We're just good.
SPEAKER_03Alright. I didn't know if you want me to hit them with the Will Smith.
SPEAKER_01We're back. What up, peoples? How you guys been? Glad you're here with us. Welcome to Cohere Nonsense.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's been a couple of more weeks.
SPEAKER_01It's been three weeks. We've uh I've been working on the new studio that's coming. Just doing things. Sanding. Yup. Thanks, Nicks. October 1st is the uh deadline that I've set myself. Whether I'll meet it or not, that's up to the people who are gonna lay the flooring. But uh good anyway.
SPEAKER_03It's good to have goals.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we got goals. We got things popping off.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you gotta have a timeline. You know, otherwise you can't act accordingly. What's been going on with you? Uh some sweet family stuff that makes you think about stuff. Last night was uh the first football game of the season, and it was Jets' last first game in the band.
SPEAKER_01Nice.
SPEAKER_03And Aaron's first first game under the Friday night lights as a showstopper. She uh where they wave the flags. Oh yeah. I don't remember. Color guard. Wasn't it Color Guard when we were in school?
SPEAKER_01I think so, because my mom did that in high school.
SPEAKER_03It's just called Showstoppers now.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03But like they do the flags uh on during halftime, and then during the game, they're like the band, basically like band cheerleaders because they're with the band, yeah, but they got pom-poms and they're you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So what does Jet play?
SPEAKER_03Uh drums.
SPEAKER_01Drums. Uh just a snare, a quartet. Yeah, he plays a snare. Yeah. I need to hear him. He's gotta be fire with it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. The whole summer, like, because he was like when he first started, he was on the big bass. Boom, boom.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He did that, like uh he played tennis, ninth grade, I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Cameron played tennis too, didn't he? Yeah, Cameron played. Yeah, yeah, I remember that.
SPEAKER_03Cameron's at Jack State on tennis scholarship, right now. Nice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's fire. He's huge. That's fire.
SPEAKER_03He's as tall as you.
SPEAKER_01If I if I've I've seen him one, I've seen him within this year. Yeah. And I thought the same thing. Great kid. Yeah, great kid. Good stuff.
SPEAKER_03But uh, yeah, Jet played the bass, and uh he did that for a couple of years, like 10th and 11th, and then all summer he had like the uh practice snare, and all summer long he was just like putting it on his bedpost and standing up like drumline style.
SPEAKER_01Like a practice snare, still like a full snare, though, right?
SPEAKER_03But it's just a little pad, the little yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think back then I had like a little black pad, it was like rubber.
SPEAKER_03This one was like a full octagon, like a little like a stop sign, but a little smaller.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, is it like wood or plastic and rubber in the middle? So and right all summer you just hear him in there practicing, and he plays did you notice that like you hear it when he starts, but then the longer he goes, you just kind of tune it out.
SPEAKER_03Uh well, we bought him uh like good electric drums uh I don't know, maybe three or four Christmases ago. And he's played those, and I think that's kind of what honed his skill because everything he does is either he learned it himself or he learned it at band. And on Nico's birthday party when he played with y'all, yeah, I was amazed. Like he was on point. I didn't like I've never seen him do that.
SPEAKER_01Like a full drum set? Yeah, never.
SPEAKER_03I've I've seen him play like the electric drums and stuff, but I can't hear what he's hearing, you know. It's just I hear the the like I stand there.
SPEAKER_01You watch wood on plastic, wood on plastic, but I was what I saw from Jet at that party was all he needs is time and experience as it I that was enough to me to be like, bud, I didn't realize you had that in you already.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like I knew you had that in you, but I didn't know you had acquired that already.
SPEAKER_01No, talent's there, no, it just needs to be honed. Yeah, I was very proud.
SPEAKER_03Still am.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, when Nico would go in the studio and turn on the guitar, he would sit there and play for like an hour, like hour 20, hour 30 sometimes, and then about about 45 minutes, you know, I'm looking at my phone or playing the game, I'd just kind of tune in and realize, oh, he's Nico's still playing guitar, and that's sounding good. Oh, no, he plays some because he'll go to YouTube. Like you know how the studio's set up. I got it set up where you can go to YouTube and play like uh there's backing tracks that you can play to, or for example, you can type in like he loves Pantera, so he'll type in Pantera Cemetery Gates without guitar, or it'll have no lead, so he can fill in the gaps. And he does that sometimes, and I'm not in the room. Honest to God, I don't know if he's listening to the song or that's him. He's so on point.
SPEAKER_03That's fire.
SPEAKER_01Because you know, we got the um so you can you can just play it from YouTube and record it to the studio at the same time, or you're just no, he's not recording, but uh we use the there's a guitar plug-in that we use, it's not guitar rig, amplitude, it's called Amplitude, and the sounds in there are as real as real can be.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it just set your tone and everything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, it's the the full amp and and everything pedals. I mean, it's so intuitive, it's it would be a lot to go into, but it it sounds exactly perfect. And there's even within the app, there is a like an online community. You can go you can click the online part and then type in Pantera Cemetery Gates, and there's a community like where people have honed in the tone and then uploaded it for you to download it. Oh so he can just find any song, click on it, and he's got and then the guitar sounds like that.
SPEAKER_03Because when you I watch videos and there's I mean, there's a a couple of handfuls of like tone rich artists, yes, where they got their own tone. Yeah like uh buddy from Dire Straits, what's his name? Eric Mark Knobler, Mark Knobler? I don't know. I think uh bro his that like that. How'd it go? Like, hey, you made the coolest guitar riff about appliances. I don't like I think I use that as the example in my brain.
SPEAKER_01I mean Dimeback Daryl has a distinguished sound, like Zach Wilde. Zach Wild Jack White, you know when Jack White's playing. Mayor. Mayor, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He has that just so rich, silky, smooth atmosphere.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. See, John Mayer has his own plug-in through uh universal audience. That mug's up.
SPEAKER_03He's a midi amongst himself.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He's he's on another planet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and uh parent womanizer. No, I don't know John Mayer. I don't know him either. But I like him though. Yeah, he seems alright with me. Ever since he was in the Dave Chappelle uh skit, I was like, oh John Mayer's cool.
SPEAKER_01He he's hilarious. Yeah, remember on VH1, he had like a few episodes called John Mayer makes a TV show and it's like a skit comedy. Uh-uh, but it was only like two or three episodes. I'm pretty sure they they have to be on YouTube. They're hilarious.
SPEAKER_03It's from like oh, when he would walk around with the guitar.
SPEAKER_01That's one of the things. So one one skit was he dressed up in like this bear costume, would go out to people in the parking lot waiting for a John Mayer concert and just go talk crap about himself and have them defend him.
SPEAKER_03Oh, bro, I would that sound so much fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's funny. And there's one skit where he's like walking down this hall and everybody in different rooms. This is full skit, like they're creating things for him, and but he's acting like he's just on his phone and just this big business guy and ain't got time. He'll walk into the room and this guy's on the guitar, and he was like, What are you doing? He said, I just come up with the new chord, and it's like horrible sound, and he's like, I don't like that. He said, Yeah, but it's the chord M for Mayer. He said, I love it. Stupid cards. Oh, yeah, I'm gonna have to look that up. Just straight, it's goofy.
SPEAKER_03I wonder if that I wonder if that was before the Chappelle stuff or after that.
SPEAKER_01That might have been what put him on Chappelle's radar. Because it's old, it's like 2000. That's three, 2004. Like right when his first album came out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh now we get our comedy from like TikTok and trolls and stuff. There's no there's no um comedy other like no comedy movies are hardly being made. No.
SPEAKER_01That's because nobody wants to be offended.
SPEAKER_03The comedy scene is like so ballooned that it's about to pop from oversaturation.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's because of the new medium, there's so many stand-up comedians.
SPEAKER_03And someone I'm a student of like stand-up comedy. I love it. I would have done it if I could meet the height requirements. Like, but I've I've watched comedy for so long, 20 something years at least, and watched it go from nobody was doing it to what Kill Tony is. Yeah, just breaking new talent every week.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't the same.
SPEAKER_03I always loved comedy all the way back to but it's so they there used to be a thousand comics in the world, like probably when I started listening to comedy. A thousand in the world, a thousand good comics.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I remember Murphy Raw. Yeah, like in the 80s because I was born in the year.
SPEAKER_03That's the yeah, that's Eddie Murphy is the first uh comedian that I watched, raw and delirious. Yes, yeah. Uh and uh anyway, if we had video, that'd be way better. Uh and then George Carlin, like George Carlin made me pay attention to politics and conspiracies and just the overall how messed up like stuff actually is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then you listen to that, and then you go back to like uh Hicks, and you listen to Hicks, and he's just pre-Carlin.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I didn't listen to I didn't care for Carlin when I was a teenager and stuff because I was purposely so out of the politics loop.
SPEAKER_03That's why I'm saying I didn't get into him until I was all like already aware of what Yeah, I've heard things within the past few years that is just his old stuff, and it's so relevant.
SPEAKER_01I'm almost more relevant now than it was back then. One of my first uh stand-up specials at Justin, he was he was introducing me to things. So the first like Dana Carvey stand-up.
SPEAKER_00Oh, he's talking about the system and all that stuff, or the Robin Williams one. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm talking about from the 80s, he's he's sweating coat out. Yeah, he's sweating and like he's wearing the glasses, but they ain't got no lenses in them, and he's just Robin Williams is a strange.
SPEAKER_03But the Mecca, like you had HBO hour.
SPEAKER_01That was before Comedy Century. That was before that was when like was Def Jam on HBO or was that Showtime? Was that HBO? Uh yeah, it was HBO. Uh the Apollo or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Uh Apollo was on channel two. It was like uh it was like a BET version of America's Got Talent because it was a variety show that you could do music, you could comedy, whatever. You know, it was the okay, it was a variety show in Harlem, New York at the famous Apollo.
SPEAKER_01America's Got Talent. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_03But just not so But it was for it was geared toward uh black people, but it anybody could go on there. It did, and when a white person went on, I watched, I watched it like religiously. That comic view, like I was plugged into black comedy when I Gary Owen started from back then, he started on Comic View. Gary Owen started on Comic View on BET in the late 90s, like mid mid to late 90s, and then a few years later, he hosted Comic View uh because they always had a host, like a comic that was a host that would introduce the comics and whatnot. And once he appeared on BET Comic View, uh I it might have been like two, two or three years after that, he actually hosted it. And then he became uh White Mike or whatever. I can't remember. He was on a TV show, I think it was White Mike, but that's yeah, Gary Owens' been famous in the black scene for 30 years.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy that I mean, if you know Gary Owens to anybody listening, I would say he's in my top ten favorite black comedians. And he's white, he's he's a ginger white, but trust me, my statement stands, I promise you.
SPEAKER_03I mean, he own he likes black women, he's has mixed children.
SPEAKER_01He's hilarious. And like authentic. You know, you know, he never, I feel like he never sold out or changed it up, or he's just authentically.
SPEAKER_03He is not overly wiggler, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01There's different He's true to himself, he's authentic. He doesn't, I've never appropriating the culture.
SPEAKER_03I never heard him code switch in the regards of talking like this and then like talking the way I'm talking right now, and then talking the way that he actually talks. Like there's a little, you know, you got comedy, you you're adding inflection and and you're adding like character to this comedy. Like, so of course it's gonna be turned up a little bit, but it ain't like uh he's married to white women and doing black comedy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it doesn't come off uh inauthentic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Is that the way it's not an act? Yeah, it's gotta be. Because I've said authentic like four times. Describing him, so that would be the opposite.
SPEAKER_03No, I love I love Gary Owen. There's so many, there's so many comedians from back then just watching Comic View that are been in so many movies that if you are not aware of who they are, you miss how cool it is for them to be in this little independent movie. Like like Don Curry, DC Curry, Don DC Curry, uh from Friday, next Friday. Yeah, like the uncle. Yes, I'm your uncle Elroy, like DC, he's from Comic View, like he was a host on Comic View, okay all those people I would imagine, like probably did not get their due. Like, as how as funny as they are and have been for so many years, like miss the opportunity to get real money. But I've I always heard that like road comics, good road comics that are constantly touring and hitting the road, even though they're not Tom Segura or you know, big huge people. Cake, son.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because if you sell out, you sell out a club for the weekend, like you you're a great uh good, great road comic. You're probably getting three grand for the weekend. For the weekend. So maybe you do like a Friday, Saturday show, you do two shows both nights, like a seven o'clock and a ten o'clock. You work four hours and get three grand.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's gravy. Yeah, and just keep it pushing.
SPEAKER_03Or you you make deals where you get you get the door. Like if you're like Bert. Bert, he was uh known for bringing out drinkers, he's gonna sell liquor.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so the venue gets the bar, he gets the door. Yep. Yep, that's stuff like a smart business.
SPEAKER_03Like uh Mitch Hedbury, he was like, Hey, uh, this weekend, uh I worked for half the doors Saturday and Sunday. He said, So I did four shows and then I got half a door. Speaking of Mitch, you know, buddy that is just ripping him off.
SPEAKER_01I I think I've seen him on Kill Tony a few times, but he's such a rip-off that now I scroll past him really.
SPEAKER_03He's such a rip-off that I believe like it's not an act. I believe that's just who he is, that's how he talks. He's that but he's it's too it's too on point.
SPEAKER_01It was for me.
SPEAKER_03It's just it is for everybody. He'll never he'll never get over because everybody loves Mitch Hebro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and you can't you can't duplicate it.
SPEAKER_03What's Buddy's name?
SPEAKER_01Andrew Dice Clay.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's all that's all Tommy No Brakes is doing. Uh yeah. Tommy No Breaks is doing Dice, which I know I've heard him say, I hate this character. I hate doing this. I messed up. I messed up. I hate doing this.
SPEAKER_01The this new guy or Andrew?
SPEAKER_03The new guy.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's like, oh well, he can just switch it up. He's he's actually his name's Steve something. I can't remember. He's actually funny because I've seen him do not Tommy No Breaks. But uh Andrew Dice Clay, his name is Andrew Silverstein. Like Dice, he Andrew Silverstein did comedy, and then he came up with the Dice Clay character in the 80s, and it hit so hard. Like he was in in comedy history, Andrew Dice Clay was the first stadium comic. Very first one to do arenas and stadiums and stuff. That's wild to do it back then in the 80s, and that popular character was so big that he just kind of adopted that character and became the character. But I follow him still.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I don't follow him on any socials.
SPEAKER_03He's so grandpa funny, like walks around with the big Tony Stark glasses, yeah. Uh, and people will look at him, and he knows that they don't know who he is, but he goes, uh, so you want a picture? You want a picture? Like he's just uh always in character of I'm I'm famous, I know you recognize me, I know you want a picture. Let's take a picture.
SPEAKER_01And they're like, oh, oh they're like sure.
SPEAKER_03Okay, who are you? You want a picture?
SPEAKER_01Just come on for the it's any such character, they're they're with it. It's great. He was in my head uh because I'm currently uh uh mentioned before re-watching Entourage, and I'm on season eight, which is the last season. Oh, yeah, I forgot he's he's very prominent. Uh like he's a big part of uh quickly what's going on. Uh drama had a this cartoon show made after him, like a radar family guy type cartoon called Johnny's Bananas, but it's him and Dice Clay. Oh, okay. And they're like this perfect teaming.
SPEAKER_03But uh Andrew's one uh uh was it Matt Dylan? What's his name?
SPEAKER_01Uh Kevin Dillon is drama. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's just drama. I mean he's Kevin. He's like the best thing of the show almost. Ari and drama make the show. Yeah. Well uh uh why I'll say the E. What's E? E is his character's name.
SPEAKER_03Uh uh Kevin Kevin Mulury.
SPEAKER_01Something like that. Yeah, Unhappy Ever After. But E, that character, that actor, like across the board, everybody on that show, he's acting everybody under the table. And his character has kind of the most dialogue, the most range.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. He's the by far the best continuity of a character.
SPEAKER_01I love him so much. I just want to give his I want to give him his flowers, but Dice Clay is like he pulled Nikki Cox on Unhappily Ever. Um uh Dice Clay in the show. So is he managing them? Uh like drama and dice? Well, you know, drama's just there, it's Vince's brother. Right. He's the the manager. He's not E's partner is Turtle is no Turtle's doing his own thing. E's partner is Scotty Lavin, which is Scott, I can't remember the actor's name. His name's Scott in real life. Varsity Blues.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Scott Kahn.
SPEAKER_01Scott Kahn. Yeah. Yes. Uh so he's him and Eric have their own uh managing business.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I vaguely so Scotty uh is managing Dice Clay, but within the show, Andrew Dice Clay is not himself like everybody else is himself. He's Dice Clay to the max, boy. I'm talking sideburns, big old glasses, and how he talks. He's like this, and like now he's trying to get money from the from you know trying to get more money for the show. So he's walking, he's walking on the show, you know, and I can you know he's he's very vulgar, but I'm not I'm not gonna cuss say what he says. But he's just so little Miss Muffs. Yeah, he's just so dice clay, uh cranked up, and it's it's hilarious, it's funny.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, to see an exaggerated character exaggerated even more, yeah. Like it it can either it lands so good or it's cringe, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, and this it works, and then like he walks from the show, and then in the story, like uh the network don't they're like, Well, we're not gonna pay him what he wants, so they hire in uh they just replace him, and who it is is Jamie Kennedy, but it's not Jamie Kennedy, like Jamie Kennedy, he's he's playing the character, but the character's just doing a dice clay impression that's horrible on purpose, yeah. Like to the point that that's kind of the funny of it.
SPEAKER_03Like when racist people talk to Mexicans, they yeah, he's like they get loud.
SPEAKER_00Drum is like this, he sucks, he's just doing a dice impression. So what it is is you look just like him.
SPEAKER_01I've been watching it for a while. Uh, but like Jamie Kennedy, he'll just say his he'll just say his line, but after everything go, oh what do you mean?
SPEAKER_03Hey, but that was that was dice in the 80s. That's exactly what it is. Exactly what it is. Oh and now uh buddy, uh his name's Lil Mutz, and you don't know that name, but when I say, How you doing, that's his name, Lil Mutz. Okay, he's I'm gonna have to follow him. He parlayed that into a stand-up. I don't know if you call it a career, but he's in front of the mic on stage and people's watching him, and he's just how you doing, you know, something for your sister, Lil Mutz.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm tuned in now. I grabbed I grabbed my phone. I am following Andrew Dice Clay. I don't know why I didn't think about this sooner. I'm in.
SPEAKER_03And uh I've been watching him since Facebook, you know, a few years ago.
SPEAKER_01How am I not following Fiona Cali yet? Who's that? You know who this redhead in a wheelchair? Oh, yeah, she's hilarious. Hilarious. I follow her on TikTok. I don't I was I'm honestly, I've had Instagram for a long time, but I never got it.
SPEAKER_03I think she's the only handicapped person I ever found attractive, and she's not even attractive. She's just hilarious.
SPEAKER_01She's funny and cute.
SPEAKER_03I mean, she's cute, she's hilarious.
SPEAKER_01No, I mean her and Theo together was hilarious.
SPEAKER_03Rick Diaz. Do you know that dude who Rick Diaz is?
SPEAKER_01I might know his face.
SPEAKER_03Uh he sounds like you're shaking him when he talks. He's I'm he shakes all the time, and he's not money then, but he's hilarious.
SPEAKER_01He's so funny he's I know the guy who stutters, who's funny.
SPEAKER_03Uh the one that was on uh America's Got Talent. Uh Drew Drew Lynch. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01He just he looks like his name would be Chad or just standard white guy.
SPEAKER_03I think you're is he from Kill Tony or no? I think you're talking about Drew Lynch. I don't know enough. Yeah. Drew Lynch. Yeah, I got I I can fill in the blanks. I think Drew Lynch is the most popular stuttering comedian that I know.
SPEAKER_01That's him. Yep, that is exactly him. You know, man. You know comedy. Like I know music, other things. No, I keep my finger to the pulse. Nice. Other than entourage and comedy, let's see. So Spider-Man was the last movie we watched. We talked about that. Yeah. You watched anything ever since?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, D D23. Let's talk about that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. Hang on. Let me say this before I forget. Uh for the couples out there, watch companion. It's got uh Jack Quaid, who's uh Huey and the boys. Him and uh what's her name?
SPEAKER_01I I I don't companion. It's oh it's this is a movie or a TV show?
SPEAKER_03No, it's a it's a movie. And it's she's a robot, and you know that like Sophie Thacker? Yeah, Sophie Thacker. That's it. I was thinking Sophie Turner, but that's she's from Game of Thrones. She's uh the previous she's the previous uh Phoenix.
SPEAKER_01But the movie's fire?
SPEAKER_03Oh, but it's I loved it. I I thought it was so good because the whole time I'm thinking I know exactly what this movie is gonna be, like because she's a robot, like Sophie Thacker, she's a robot, uh a companion robot. Yes, okay, and so knowing that from the beginning of the movie, you know, I just um everybody maps out what's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it doesn't happen that way.
SPEAKER_01Nah, I love movies that do that.
SPEAKER_03Like, and the whole time you're thinking, like, all right, this is going the way I think it's gonna go. Oh, this happens, she's gonna do this because that's nope. It it just like it just dodges what you think is gonna happen enough to make the movie good on a premise that's been done up and down the wall, like upgrade, ex machina, like her, all these robot movies. And I don't want to be vulgar or anything, but they reference her as a F bot.
SPEAKER_01I'm with you. I'm with you. But way could have said sex bot.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'm using verbiage from the movie. Okay. Uh but it's it's good. I liked it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'll add it. We'll add it to the queue.
SPEAKER_03I told a couple of people, uh a couple of people about it, so many things. It ain't something like you want to watch by yourself. Like you and your girl watch it. That's great. All right. Because it's got romance, it's got excitement, it's got blood, it's got like it's all it's not a rom-com, and it's not an action movie, it's not a horror movie, it's like all of that in one movie.
SPEAKER_01A multi-genred movie.
SPEAKER_03It's like obsession with a robot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm still not watching obsession.
SPEAKER_03Bro, you I mean you got to.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not. I know enough of the I know enough of the main scenes, I I know how it ends.
SPEAKER_03As long as Cherie doesn't do to you what MK did to me after we watch Obsession, it won't weird you out. And I need you to just, I mean, I know you've watched all the scenes, so like where like he comes back and she's just standing there and pissed on herself and stuff. Like, imagine watching the movie, and then for the next two days, any room that you go in, your wife is standing there like that, waiting on you just to freak you out for a second. Like, yo, quit doing that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03MK did it, she did it to me for like two days after we watched the movie.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that would that would freak me out. I just want to walk in a room and have Indy Navaretti standing there.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I almost sent you uh this AI video yesterday that was her in a rogue outfit.
SPEAKER_01I've seen so many, like so many AI renders.
SPEAKER_03They made her uh have some kind of bikini on. Oh I was like, I was like, uh, that's disrespectful.
SPEAKER_01No, I've seen so many dislike her in the 90s rogue, green yellow with the leather brim jacket.
SPEAKER_03You better be tired if you're not covered all the way up except for your face, you're not rogue.
SPEAKER_01Uh-uh. Rogue's gotta be full because she can't have human contact.
SPEAKER_03That's her she's pretty. Rogue's pretty. I'm sure Indy can do a southern accent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Rogue is, I think she probably she's from Louisiana too. I think so.
SPEAKER_01Well, Gambit is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I know Gambit is. I think she is too.
SPEAKER_01I'm so disconnected. Uh, it's been a long time since I've seen like 90s Wolverine. I'm 90s Wolverine, 90s X-Men. I haven't watched the the X-Men 97 that's on Disney now.
SPEAKER_03No, I haven't either, but Jet watched it. He said it.
SPEAKER_01It was great. But I think I've even as an you know pre-pubescent kid, I remember still having a crush on Rogue from the comics.
SPEAKER_03Because when uh what's her name from Trueblood played Rogue?
SPEAKER_01Anna Packwin. Yeah, I was like, no, no, Anna Packwin.
SPEAKER_03I mean, she's hot, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, she's supposed to be hot, hot, not cute, and not a little girl.
SPEAKER_03She's supposed to be, you can't touch her, and she can't touch you, and she's pretty in the way that you want to touch her.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like a siren almost.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. Like, but a cool yawn. Like, if we're going Louisiana, like she's like uh, you know, Cajun, not as Cajun as Gambit.
SPEAKER_01Gambit, but like a Remy Le Bull.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, a Remy LeBull. What's he say? Uh uh Diablo Le Blanc.
SPEAKER_01It's been a long time since I watched Sleep Blade hit me again.
SPEAKER_03Hey.
SPEAKER_01But I would say I would say Anna Packwin to Indy Navaretti might be the greatest upgrade in cinematic history. I'll just make that statement.
SPEAKER_03All right. Repeat this. What if they're what if they're just Josh and us? Wonder elaborate. Okay. Wonder if he is actually mistake and playing.
SPEAKER_01That'd be horrible.
SPEAKER_03But that seems that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibilities that Marvel would do. Because I think that I think that's definitely plausible.
SPEAKER_01They they do things like that.
SPEAKER_03As soon as we get on their trail, they'll they'll do something different to throw you off.
SPEAKER_01Like that's called a swerve in wrestling. Swerve. A swerve? Yeah, but see, where movies are already set, wrestling can swerve in real time. So whatever happened this Monday, they can see the reaction now.
SPEAKER_03And change it by Thursday.
SPEAKER_01And switch it. Yeah, by next month, by the next raw, they can do you do a swerve.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. Smackdown's like what on Friday now? Friday. Yeah. Used to be Thursday, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But going back to Rogue Indy Navaretti, like even in the interviews before the announcement, she was rogue when she's like, I would love to be Mystique. I'm like, I would love for you to do what you want, but don't be a character that's constantly changing and I and then it's not you anymore.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like, no.
SPEAKER_03I feel you. Especially like if you like someone and you want to keep looking at it. Don't change your face.
SPEAKER_01It's elite face. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I like it. I think she'd be a good rogue. I think she's gonna be funny.
SPEAKER_01I like the whole panel that they announced for the new X-Men, and I like that it's new people.
SPEAKER_03I don't know Kit Connors, though. Like the buddy playing Cyclops. I don't either.
SPEAKER_01But that's what I like, is that I don't know them, so I can't prejudge.
SPEAKER_03I do like that. I always want new uh like introductions of characters to be new people. Yes, like even not, I don't have to not know them, but I would like a couple of I don't know them's in there. Exactly. Like I'm like Sadie, Sadie perfect. Yeah, that's good. Like Indy's good, she'll be good doing whatever, you know. She can't play Storm, you know. No, no. Like Rogue. Rogue or Mystique. She couldn't be Kitty Pride, like no, like that's a little that's a teenager's role. But like Rogue or Mystique, I she's great for.
SPEAKER_01Fantastic.
SPEAKER_03Uh I kind of like her better as Rogue just for like she can play that character for a long time.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. You know, because she turned down Heat 2.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, DiCaprio DiCaprio and Matt Damon. Oh, no. DiCaprio and Christian.
SPEAKER_01Robert De Niro.
SPEAKER_03I didn't, I never saw De Niro. I thought it was like Heat 2 was Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bell. Okay. And then she was gonna be whatever.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I think there was a second movie, maybe something with De Niro. I could be completely wrong.
SPEAKER_03I don't I only heard about Heat 2. I heard she turned down two roles to play Road, and that's exact or to be in X-Men. What I know about her, um That's that's what she turned down two movies and and just parlayed that into a 10-year franchise.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. First, it's the Disney bag, the Disney Marvel check, guaranteed sequels. And um, and she's a nerd, like she's she's she's one of us.
SPEAKER_03Like she started off as a streamer, and she she's already connected to what you just said, the nerds, like the people that know her, know her and respect her for that for doing what she wants rather than the the and then appreciates the be she gets the respect for the culture from the culture, yeah, before the she's pretty.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and that makes it way hotter and better.
SPEAKER_01She she did I'm tired of her, I'm tired of discovering things that move her up notches.
SPEAKER_03She her and Daphne Keene are such Daphne King is X23.
SPEAKER_01You people didn't know.
SPEAKER_03They're such twin girls, like because I think Daphne King is like not the way you think about Indy, but she's hot. I think she's so attractive, she's like powerful, and yeah, perfect for that role. She's so good at X2. She's Logan's daughter, yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_01And uh my prediction, let's let's go forward for Doomsday. I don't think any of these new X-Men are gonna be in Doomsday. I think it's gonna be the Fox uh the Fox uh X-Men because Yeah, they gotta kill them all. I think I think Doomsday is gonna kill, like destroy that entire universe.
SPEAKER_03They have to because when two incursions happen, one of the timelines has to go. Exactly. It has to go.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I say, like when Doom in the in that latest trailer, he says all of you have been living stolen lives, it's time to take it because that's because 616, the so-called sacred timeline, yeah, is if I'm not mistaken, like it's made, it's an incursion.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like it is the sacred timeline is vulnerable to be extinguished.
SPEAKER_01So like uh Steve Rogers going back and having his kid.
SPEAKER_03And Loki's holding all that stuff together. Loki is the key to the sacred timeline.
SPEAKER_01And see, I never finished season two of Loki. I need to think we need I think I need to before doomsday.
SPEAKER_03I do too, because I left off like all the Loki's, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, season one is all I watched.
SPEAKER_03That's all I watched. But um the trailer and stuff, like you see, all right, Gambit is fighting Shang-Chi. Yeah, that's over Shang-Chi's like gonna get him.
SPEAKER_01Did you see Doomsday's like council that he's gonna have with him? Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, um, uh the the female Loki. What was her name? Uh the blonde. Evie. Evie. Then there was a fourth one, but like that uh what's her name?
SPEAKER_03Clea, Clea, Clea?
SPEAKER_01I think so.
SPEAKER_03Uh Charlie's Theron. Yeah, yeah. And it's like how they're like Scarlet Witch type of.
SPEAKER_01These little new Avengers ain't doing nothing.
SPEAKER_03Oh no.
SPEAKER_01And I'm actually pulling for Doomsday in this one. I know he's got to win because they got to get to Secret Wars.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but it's all if they go true, bro, and this is just a theory that I hope happens.
SPEAKER_01You're just pulling from the comics, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. But also somebody that would be perfect to play this role. If they pull from the beyonders, because doom is trying to stop the beyonders.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03Like this whole whole timeline world stuff is because he's the beyonders are the beyonders, but there's a group of them, the beyonders. They're like in the celestial realm. They're po more powerful than Doom. But Doom amasses this knowledge, and then takes that knowledge and amasses more power and sorcery and magic and but it's all to be able to get the amount of power to go against the beyonders, the beyonder, who's like omnipotent, like omnipotent. Like if Henry Cavill shows up as the beyonder, I will shit. Like, because that's that's the perfect role for him.
SPEAKER_01I need to learn that character, and what I keep hearing is he's gonna be Magneto, which I think is fire too.
SPEAKER_03Well, the Beyonder, him and the Beyonder and Doom going against the uh each other is in the comics ultimately what creates Battle World. Okay, and like, but they're not referencing the Beyonder in any regard.
SPEAKER_01But I've never seen Eternals or nothing. Does that have anything to do with that?
SPEAKER_03Uh no, no.
SPEAKER_01Eternals is Was that connected to Kang when they were trying to do that storyline?
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. The Eternals are the beginning of said multiverse.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03Like they the Eternals are created by the celestials. The celestials are like uh uh the big the big robots.
SPEAKER_01The big robots when when he says hell answers to me for I am.
SPEAKER_03There's there's and and the celestials um all right, so it goes like the one above all the number one most powerful person in Marvel is. Called the one above all.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03The second most powerful person is the living tribunal, which is the multi-headed celestial, the living tribunal. They're the judge of the multiverse of the universe. They're number two in charge, only under the one above all. And then under the living tribunal, you got your celestials, and they create the worlds and what happens on the worlds. And then it just like the hierarchy goes down from your celestials to your eternals. The eternals work on behalf of the celestials. They are the like the celestials created the eternals. The eternals watch over the worlds and like help manipulate. They're like uh the original TVA minus the time variant aspect of it. Okay. And I that's a like a rudimentary. Anyone that doesn't know what they actually do, that's like a good explanation of they're just kind of like the TVA without the time doesn't matter because they're eternal. Yeah. Okay. And then you from there you go to your beyonders and your dooms and your man, there's just so many comics I didn't read growing up. I mean, I didn't read them all.
SPEAKER_01Like, this is yeah, stuff I've yeah, like yeah, I love like uh going to like because you know, like Marvel has their own like wiki page, or like go to Wikipedia and just look up the characters, and then then I'm gathering history and all that. Oh, yeah. Like as soon as uh uh Indy was uh cast as rogue, like I was like, I know Rogue and I know you know Rogue from Fox X-Men and knew her from the comics. So I was like, but I I wanted to know before I watched the movie, kind of everybody's abilities or and potentials, you know what I'm saying? And I didn't know Rogue was an omega level. Yeah, she's omega, but that's why her and Bobby where in where in the comics uh she gets into a fight with Captain Marvel, and she uh holds Captain Marvel so long that she drains her power. She drains her entire power like forever. In the story arc, Captain Marvel's soul is inside of Rogue. Yeah, like if Rogue, that's Rogue can do all she's I didn't think she was Superman.
SPEAKER_03She can she can absorb your powers for a time ban, she can take them away forever.
SPEAKER_01But she kills you to take them away forever. No, no, no, no. Yes. Uh in the comic, in the the little breakdown I read was No, not necessarily.
SPEAKER_03Uh who was it?
SPEAKER_01No, it was they extract Captain Marvel, but uh Carol Danvers.
SPEAKER_03She lives one somebody she does like that. I think it's Carol because her smoke gets in it. They they they don't die, like she lives as a regular person, like once the powers have been extracted.
SPEAKER_01I think I'm not sure what I read wasn't didn't break it down like that. So I don't but I'm sure there's probably a comic arc, and I just wonder how this MCU is gonna handle her. Like Fox kind of nerfed her really bad.
SPEAKER_03That's the thing. That everybody's been nerfed. Hulk. Like Marvel nerfed Hulk.
SPEAKER_01But do you know technically why?
SPEAKER_03Because uh, once he gets going, ain't nobody stopping him.
SPEAKER_01Well, also Disney Marvel don't own the rights to Hulk a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_03He can't have a standalone movie since uh since Edward Norton.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because Eric Bany, Eric Bana or whatever his name is, like his Hulk hit if you go back and watch it.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that's Disney.
SPEAKER_03That's why no, no, no, it's not. It's a it's a Fox joint.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Disney don't own them, so they can't do they've you know it's a Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_03That's that's crazy work right there because Disney's got like almost as money, almost as much money as uh you know people collect for God. So you know, I don't know why they can't buy these characters outright and then do them justice.
SPEAKER_01The people who own it, like how Sony will never let Spider-Man go because he's he makes so much money. I mean the new Spider-Man's fixing a beat in game easily.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's all because that's all because of Marvel. Uh-huh. Like in the in the early 2000s, like after after Blade Marvel, Marvel was hemorrhaging money. Like they needed money.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they were about to go bankrupt.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they were going bankrupt. So they sold the rights to some of their characters to Sony. Uh and now Sony is like, hey, I realized we got a great deal. Oh they're doing what they should do. Yeah, so it's not giving us what there's I mean you Spider-Man and Venom, like you know the next Spider-Man is it's over for uh for uh Tom Holland, and he's gonna go symbiote and then cross over to Miles. Yeah, that's we gotta go, it's gotta go that way.
SPEAKER_01Got to. And I'm excited for it.
SPEAKER_03What's I what it'll be called? Uh a darker day or something like that. I think is but he would be full black spider suit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But yeah, we gotta have the symbiote.
SPEAKER_03Like Iron Man, Iron Man wasn't a popular character.
SPEAKER_01I never cared about Iron Man until uh till the movie. Till RDJ. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03Like Iron Man was not a popular thing.
SPEAKER_01I didn't even go to the theater to see Iron Man. Iron Man won.
SPEAKER_03No. We I did. I did. I fell asleep in the movie theater watching Iron Man. Like it was me, maybe Jason, Jason Parker.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_03Well the movie ain't bad. I don't know why you fell asleep. It wasn't Ghost Rider. No, I fell asleep at some point, like when the movie started, like right when he went to the cave, I think I was like falling asleep. And when he came out of the cave is when I woke up. And I don't remember anything. Like, I don't know what I remember falling asleep, waking up, and then left. Didn't even finish the movie. Like, we left. I've only fallen asleep in two movies, which was That and Glorious Bastards, which is crazy to say two fantastic movies.
SPEAKER_01That's on you, man. That's not on the movie.
SPEAKER_03100%. That was me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what was happening that day because that was a long time ago, but I do remember falling asleep in two movies that I wanted to see. And then I was out. Now I've walked out of other movies for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh The Martian with Matt Damon walked out.
SPEAKER_01Never saw it.
SPEAKER_03Uh The Last Witch Hunter with Vin Diesel, walked out.
SPEAKER_01Never saw it. You walked out of Ghost Rider, Nicolas Cage. Because we lived right beside the theater. That was the only movie when we lived in those apartments right above the theater. The only movie we walked down and saw was that. And I feel bad that I didn't leave.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't know. I don't even I barely remember.
SPEAKER_01I think you had a from my memory, you had a phone call. You took the phone call. And I was like, why would I go back? This movie's not good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've seen that movie ten times since then, probably. Never got better, dude. Yeah, never got better. Spirit of Vengeance, even worse.
SPEAKER_01Um, I'll bring this back to Rogue just because I it was in my brain a while ago and I didn't say it. What I was reading was some of the creators of Rogue when they was talking about stealing her the abilities, and within that, that I was reading was when they were saying that she sucks the life force out of people. I guess this must be this comic art that they wrote, but the writer said that for every one second she holds you, she touches you, she has your ability for 60 seconds. So for every one second, it's 60 seconds to her. But she, even though she gets your memories as well, she doesn't get the training. So, like if she gets Scott's Cyclops' ability for like 10 minutes, she can't control it. Yeah, she she don't know how to control it like she does.
SPEAKER_03He barely knows how.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so she's more like heroes, the NBC heroes, Peter Patrelli. Oh, just when he comes across the a buddy who goes nuclear and he can't control it, it's that. Except for Peter didn't have to touch you, he just had to be in your vicinity. The rogue has to touch you, but then it's only temporary.
SPEAKER_03Oh, nice. I don't know. I'm like almost a hundred percent positive that she has the ability to absorb it for a time and or take it forever, but it doesn't kill you. Like you're just powerless. Am I confusing that with something from the boys?
SPEAKER_01I never finished the boys, it got too out there for me.
SPEAKER_03It didn't it could have been way better.
SPEAKER_01Let's see. Her power set is significantly enhanced by her permanent absorption of several major heroes. So I guess this is over time. She's permanently absorbed Wonder Man's iconic uh ionic energy, provides class 100 super strength, flight exceeding 700 miles an hour, invulnerability, and superhuman stamina, and functional immortality. Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel. Who's Z Can? A telepathic alien whose absorption allowed Rogue to selectively manifest any power she had previously absorbed. That's almost that's unfair.
SPEAKER_03No, that's uh that's uh Amelia Clark's character in Do you ever watch the is it MCU stuff? The the show on Disney that she was in where it was all about the the krill and oh no what you're talking about uh secret invade?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, secret invasion. I did not know.
SPEAKER_03That's how she could like just she absorbed everybody's power and she could just make a Hulk hand or you know, whatever.
SPEAKER_01Okay. If we were to let's deep dive more, a rogue, full name, Anna Marie. This is the character. Anna Marie is her name, uh human mutant, place of origin, Mississippi. Mississippi, okay, team affiliation, X-Men, Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Extreme X-Men, and the Avengers Unity Squad. Partners, Gambit, uh notable aliases, Anna Raven and Anna Marie Lebeau. Abilities.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so she like marries Gambit?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, in comic. Nice. So abilities, uh, attribute memory, wait, attribute memory and power absorption through tactic, tactile contact, superhuman strength, speed, durability, and flight. Rogue is uh adopted by mystique and destiny, inducted into the brotherhood of evil mutants.
SPEAKER_03Look up, look up the original X-Men team.
SPEAKER_01The original X-Men team.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so it should be like Angel Beast.
SPEAKER_01Is that what this team is gonna be?
SPEAKER_03I I hope so. That's what I'm I'm driving towards.
SPEAKER_01The original X-Men team created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, uh debuted in 1963, consisted of five student mutants led by their mentor, Professor X, Charles Xavier. The founding members were Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Jean Gray, Iceman, Bobby Drake, Angel, Warren Worthington III, and Beast.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Alright, so alright. They'll this will be a rogue if she is she will uh have some kind of origin story, I would imagine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm wondering if X-Men is gonna like do flashbacks or if we'll have like flashback movies.
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, they make the movies, they make the movies for us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I I'll be 45 in three weeks. We should already be 45 in three weeks. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But like they expect us to already know. So I doubt it. I like that they don't treat us dumb. It's like you can do like we're doing research, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Expect that I know. I don't want I don't want the first movie to be the origin story every single time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I know it, yes.
SPEAKER_03Especially when I know it. Like when X-Men is so popular, it's like ubiquitous. You shouldn't have to you shouldn't have to have an origin story in the in the way of each character's backstory has to be explained throughout the first movie with continuity. Exactly. Like you can when you I we got the original team, we see how they come together. We don't need an individual backstory for every single character. We see how the team comes together, we know that they have powers, mutants are like hiding, like yeah, like we already know all these things. Okay, and then give me a little backstory for rogue being introduced to the team, or all of them, just a tad, just just just little little little glances back at well, but through the store through the story, how the the connections to each member of the team, yeah, yeah. And I like the fact that it allows I don't need a full, I don't need a from little kid to powers developing yeah, I'm with you.
SPEAKER_01And I like that it allows us to have these conversations, it allows you to want to go do your own research, and it almost pulls you into the Lord and it makes it all seem so much larger.
SPEAKER_03And knowing knowing what's to come with the X-Men, like what could happen, like they because they know the movies.
SPEAKER_01I mean, they know the comics, but they can just take a little bit, but then they can take take us left field.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, like it take a different story because some like comics have a different, you know, that's what they do. They arc off.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've always subscribed to the fact I've always thought the movies should be what the movies are and not it don't have to be a live-action comic book. Like this the first talk was that okay. You see, I don't think it should be like this is this comic arc, and this is exactly how it's gonna do, and exactly like the comic, and we're just seeing it played out by actors. No, I want it to be completely its own thing, yeah, that takes from the comics.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, uh, yeah, you you pay homage.
SPEAKER_01Yes, instead of you build upon what the comics built.
SPEAKER_03Right, right. But also you stay within perpetuity, like you stay within canon. No matter what storyline it is, I want it to be canon for the most part because that's what makes it easy, what makes it easier to follow, and then constitutes these kind of conversations where you speculate what could happen because it is not just a direct remake of said comic or whatever. Yeah, and and the first Hulk, it is a comic book movie because it it is shot like a comic. Like words are on the screen like a comic. Okay, it is it is a comic book movie.
SPEAKER_01Like how Scott Pilgrim versus the world was.
SPEAKER_03Even more so. Even more so. They they took they took what Hulk did and they like stretched it.
SPEAKER_01They made it you talking about Scott Pilgrim now? Yeah, yeah. They stylized it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they stylized it. The first Hulk, what Eric Bina, Bana, whatever. It's it has comic panels, like and I went and saw that movie because it's one Jennifer Conley.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I saw it. We watched it, but I how do I not? I don't remember a single thing. I think I guess because Disney's Marvel was so big.
SPEAKER_03We watched it in at West Cinema.
SPEAKER_01Uh Man Us was. I thought we went to uh what was the Rome one? Seven. Was it seven? Seven was the one out there.
SPEAKER_03Rome seven by the Yamaha shop, Honda shop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, right before it.
SPEAKER_03Was that seven? Yeah, that's Rome Seven. Yeah, I could have sworn we watched it in seven. Anyway, now I'm on Rome.
SPEAKER_01That was a long time ago. 28 years ago. Yeah, no wonder I don't remember it. I haven't seen it since, I don't think.
SPEAKER_03Nah, I've watched it since because one, I know in that movie that they they went through and made the Hulk the they tried to make him such a green color that wasn't Shrek because Shrek came out then.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03And they they honed it so much that they almost made him look 2D on the screen because he was so Was he like gray green? No, no, no.
SPEAKER_01He was green green. Oh fluorescent green. Like, yes. Like he he had you could see the radiation.
SPEAKER_03He was like fluorescent green, uh take out the saturation. Like he was a little darker, but he was bright.
SPEAKER_01Now I don't remember. Was it true to the comics in the sense that the more pissed off he got, he grew and got bigger. And was he big as building?
SPEAKER_03The only version of Hulk. Uh no, uh Norton's version did that too. Edward Norton's version did that.
SPEAKER_01And then Edward Norton's version is the MCU version. But he's just a new actor.
SPEAKER_03It's it's good. Like it, that's the best Hulk movie that's been made. Edward Norton.
SPEAKER_01They just never get it.
SPEAKER_03When he grabs that tank and just by Loki's it boom, boom, boom, boom. So good. And so he gets mad, he gets bigger. He it shows him like his speed, his ability to jump for miles, yeah, and then jump again for miles.
SPEAKER_01It it's a big thing. So they nerfed, they nerfed the crap out of the biggest.
SPEAKER_03But he's so nerfed right now. Because in uh uh Banna's movie, they have some Hulk dogs. Remember the three Hulk dogs as a poodle and like a um like a pit bull and something else. Remember, they bite him, he's all big and stuff, and the dogs are big, and the dog bites him on the tricep right here, and he goes, oh, and he goes and flexes that tricep and breaks the jaw, dog's jaw. Yeah, like that's that's what Hulk does.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna have to go back and watch it just for the like the just to know, just watching it knowing what I know now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh yeah. They they're working, all they are doing is working toward um playing the Hulk uh the Maestro, which is like the old the old Hulk, and he's he's like the perfect combination. Uh he was savage, like he's smart Hulk and Savage Hulk together.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03He's like king, like a a king. Yeah, basically. Maestro that's why I said planet hulk. Yeah, when he's got the long, he's got the uh, you know, he's kind of bald on top, but got the long hair. Like that is the that that Hulk Maestro is like uh King Thanos.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03They run together.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03Like I I bet at some point we'll see them together, King Thanos and Maestro together.
SPEAKER_01So you think we'll you think Thanos will come back eventually?
SPEAKER_03Oh, 100%. I hope Doomsday's this is what's gonna happen. Doomsday's gonna open, and he's going to he's gonna do to the Council of Kings what Thanos did to half of the universe. He's gonna dust them. I hope it the movie also starts and that's gonna I'm sorry, I didn't mean to I do that's going to erase what was supposed to be Kang timeline. Like Doom's gonna come in, erase Marvel's failed Kang timeline because Buddy got in trouble. Yeah, you know, so they're gonna erase that, they'll
SPEAKER_01erase the council of kings and then I hope doomsday is his his threat level is presented to the audience by the comic book strip where Doomsday comes face to face with Thanos with the full gauntlet and as soon as Thanos tries to say something they just Doomsday just rips him out Mortal Kombat style pulls his spine out and it's just OV and that's it and then all this happens before the title screen just to let you know uh oh yeah it's on yeah because that is the one of the most famous uh panels from doomsday him ripping Thanos' skeleton rip the skeleton out the body straight sub zero style and you know and you know Thanos couldn't even handle what what if that is one of the beginning scenes and just ending whatever Thanos yeah it's just such a shoulder shrug like nothing what if what if he does the Council of Kangs dust them the same way dust them first yeah that moves moves to Thanos or vice versa dust Thanos first because he was the first villain for a you know Avengers gets him skeleton rip then goes to the Council of Kangs dust them and then he's like all right first first two threats done I'm the threat now yeah that's what I want oh man yes sir that's gonna be everybody it's gotta be known all X-Men all Fox Universe X-Men done they gotta be gone Wolverine's gone gone he's done and I hope in doomsday is why we finally know why Thor was crying we will my God we will it's gotta be because Deadpool's gets killed too I'm fine with that because Deadpool should always just come back in a comedic way you know what I'm saying he's there should be just infinite variance he's well that that gene gray deadpool has got to be a hint to a variant and you meant blue gene gray blue Deadpool from D23 That's gotta be like a hint to Deadpool variant somewhere in there. Yeah and it could just be straight up the Wolverine and Logan no Wolverine and Deadpool from the movie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah yeah yeah bro and I need during this segment I need fourth wall breaks like Deadpool's gotta remain he's gotta take over he's gotta take over the movie for the time he's there yeah until whatever but long as like long as they don't do what they did in Deadpool where they you know take his power away the crap from uh what movie was that was that Logan it wasn't Logan it wasn't Logan it was no it was uh Wolverine Origins no no no not origins it was just the first Wolverine movie no it was the first Deadpool movie the where he where he goes to jail with the kid I'm talking about the one where he don't even look like oh I'm talking about the crab where he's he looks like Baraka where he's um uh the Project X or whatever yeah where he's yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no that what they did there they took his his character like from Blade and applied that to Project X or whatever you know that's who Deadpool is that was Ryan Reynolds' first uh little not it even ability to uh play Deadpool yeah because you know apparently he was always wanted to play Deadpool yeah he is perfect for it he's so perfect for it he's perfect for him if he loved that character the way that he portrays he always has personality is because of Deadpool yeah yeah it's like yeah if he Ryan has become Wade Wilson yeah if he read him and loved Deadpool as a kid he became Wade Wilson like his personality snarky you know sarcastic they so that translates dang did I just figure out uh Ryan Reynolds no was he Wade Wilson on a A Guy and a girl in a pizza place I don't know I never watched that but he's the first time I ever saw he definitely was in waiting and yeah basically just friends Van Wilder well Van Wilder you know is bas is that's Bert yeah bird's life but he he is Wade Wilson like Bird's not that cool bird's not that cool no bird ain't wade wilson cool no he ride reynolds made that character co uh cool yeah the character's character is cool yeah but it was it was loosely based on well uh Oliver Stone uh uh no not Oliver Stone Roland Stone wrote an article on Bert uh when he was in college calling him uh America's biggest party animal okay when he was at for uh Florida State and he was like went to college for seven years and he's not a doctor or anything yeah so like his dad was literally just paying for him to party at school and when they wrote that article uh Oliver Stone optioned the rights to Bert's story like and then after that Will Smith actually is the person who found Bert. Will Smith is responsible for finding Bert. Oh okay there he tells a story where he goes to Will Smith's house and watches a movie with Will Smith in his private movie theater at his house and stuff. Uh so all that happened when we were 20 and Bert didn't become a comedian until 10 years ago. Yeah so that's 15 years of him or probably 10 years of him doing stand-up and getting his way to actually him and Tom him and Tom is what made them both of them break.
SPEAKER_01Yeah Sigura yeah them doing two bears two bears is what really broke them and Bert being uh because Bert was in the Rogan sphere early on yeah and yeah I I think he I was introduced to all of them through Rogan. Yeah through Rogan me too same way now do you think Rogan helped or hurt the stand-up comedian scene like blew it up but at the same time is it kind of walled in no no he absolutely 100% did nothing but the best thing for comedy okay that would that'd be my take as well shines such a spotlight on it doesn't matter only Joe Rogan could ever make me hate Joe Rogan.
SPEAKER_03Yeah do I agree with a lot of stuff he says not all the time I don't agree with I don't even I used to listen to him religiously I was gonna say I don't agree with a hundred percent of anything anybody says I I live the first I don't know 1500 shows I listened to yeah you know I mean but now I don't I don't pay attention uh I don't value anyone's opinion yeah yeah yeah unless unless you're unless I love you and I know who you are like I know your intent and your heart yeah and like I know you I don't value I don't value your opinion because it's not gonna affect me. Yeah like the way you think or I think it's could affect our relationship you know and Joe Rogan can't affect yeah exactly but and then we're saying that in a positive well that's with positive energy yeah yeah yeah yeah there's nothing negative nah there's a Rogan is done great things for the comedy world as far as inclusivity like he's very inclusive he wants everybody to eat he's not he's not a gatekeeper. Gatekeeping yeah he's not a gate he's he is the one that opened the gate he opened the gate when he confronted Carlos Mencia on stage at uh the famous comedy store in LA owned by Pauly Shore's mama Mitzi Shore yeah uh for stealing jokes Carlos stealing jokes he got on stage and took I'll I'll beat your ass like I remember seeing the video and got kicked out of the comedy store because of that for seven years. Rogan did Rogan did yeah while Mencia was still allowed to steal people's jokes and perform there. I always heard Robin Williams was a notorious notorious they say if if he was in the back room don't do your best stuff because he'll take it yeah but he he was Robin Williams but there's a difference there's a difference between inspiration and theft yeah you know what I mean like would you say Williams and would take your joke and twist it and make it his or straight up do the bit depend I I think it depends on how polished the joke was okay and how uh relative you were like if you were a no-name comedian and you had a great polished joke and he saw it bro you see that bug on stage like on TV yeah or and in the early 90s what are you gonna do there's no there's there's no no one has phones you know there's no recording so you can't people people have to be way more accountable nowadays than they used to be because you see like receipts everywhere but like uh example that you've seen anything about that Lindsay uh Clancy trial or whatever your sister is obsessed uh is I would imagine I think every woman in America is no matter if they hate men or hate women you know what I mean like because there's two opinions and everybody that I know has one opinion.
SPEAKER_01Yeah but I I I has another side with the ladies like I think he did it like and that's I think that's yeah that's where your sister is too but she's not looking at it from like any emotion like a feminine she's not looking at it as a feminine perspective of any emotion like a straight all she is is she tells me she says I got she says I got jury we got court today I'm on jury duty and she's listening to it totally open minded she's just taking in the facts and she's telling me this stuff and I don't know what's going on because I really don't care but I love listening to her talk about things when she cares. Yeah if you if you do pay attention to it and listen to like I can't wait for the verdict that's all contradictions that are it's so it's like a I love a good like true a true crime documentary okay see I I'm not into that I get oh yeah I can get it like if it's the the last trial I was into was Johnny Dip and Amber Heard and that was the most entertaining thing I've seen in a long time.
SPEAKER_03This this has to be the new OJ say a megapint oh she's fine I don't care you ain't shitting in my bed I mean crazy's kind of hot somehow well that's why they're so hard to get rid of it doesn't but I think crazy's hot from a distance yeah bro bro you stay over there yeah I think this might be like OJ level yeah that has I in the terms of having the country it up in arms okay and because you think back at OJ what was that 94 or something 95 maybe yeah I can't even remember but there was no the internet was like barely beginning personal computers wasn't even personal yet like and people were the glove does not like we were only speculating on what they were telling us on TV. Yeah so now you got all these uh TikTok gum shoes oh like these internet and some of them are just making content yeah while fueling speculation some of these people are like actually have good theories and I think have been recognized by the case like going on like so whenever they come back from whatever happened uh with the sudden recess yeah yeah I'm I'd like to I'm intrigued to know what that was about that's gotta be she was like every time she looks at the camera they they take a recess new uh new evidence in either one way or the other yeah good or bad wow I don't know I kind of I mean like with enough evidence you can convince me to be on your side yeah I mean that's I should have been born in Missouri because you got to show me like you know what I mean like that's the show me stuff I can believe in I can believe in one thing yeah but uh everything else you guys show me and I I spent a lot of time making that trying to show me that one thing I can't believe in like yeah prove myself into believing but yeah I think buddy did it I I have no opinion I don't know I've I've I barely saw a few things about it and MK asked me about it. I said yeah I've seen a couple things and then she she just turned into uh that prosecutor yeah and she started telling me all the things it was like well Matt Murdock I guess I'm on your side and then after that you know I guess my phone was listening and I started getting a lot more videos and I just started watching them I was like yo this this math ain't mathing but I guess at the same time crazier things have happened so yeah wild well I'm sure we'll talk about it when the verdict happens yeah maybe we'll remember because who knows anyway we've been running for 82 minutes on 82 minutes dying I don't know the math of that is that a minute 20 hour and 22 minute 20 what's wrong with me go eight more minutes and we got an hour and a half well do you have any closing remarks or uh if we want to bring it back to nerdville I'm about two three weeks away from the Wolverine PlayStation 5 game I can't wait for that bruh I might have to come over here to play it.
SPEAKER_01Bruh I got have you watched uh the first episode of Lanterns no okay I honestly don't care bruh watch it okay yeah make me care no well watch it oh because I got so many things I still haven't watched penguin I haven't watched I've heard penguin is so good I heard it was so good it won so many awards and then it got canceled so what is that about uh I don't know it could be there but if I maybe James Gunn has there's no if there's no like ending to the story we know it just got canceled hoping to be renewed so there's no ending to the story I don't think yeah I'm not gonna start something yeah that makes all the sense but watch lanterns the first episode it is it it is uh to lanterns what Peacemaker is like it's that level is it if you understand it's not corny it's not corny colored like Superman oh you know what I'm saying no okay okay no no no it's uh shot exactly like a regular TV show okay so those lanterns aren't like the lantern in Superman there's no in the first episode there's no no correlation there's no lantern okay going on like I don't know enough about Green Landing that's why how Jordan how Jordan the most he does is fly and is uh in an interview in the suit with no mask just his regular Kyle Chandler or whatever his name is yeah like how Jordan is you don't know Green Lantern?
SPEAKER_03Not really like I know his abilities but it was never exciting Green Lantern core yeah I know the yeah the lantern corp and all that stuff and the yellow lanterns and I know all that but I know that from injustice video games well yellow lanterns are like uh the ring is for from fear like Green Lanterns you're it's a Jedi Sith thing yeah your will is what powers the ring like the power how strong your will is is what powers the can't spout out the creed can you uh uh and darkest day and darkest night uh that one yeah no I couldn't hit it but it's good like and then you know there's others like Parallax and how Jordan will end up becoming parallax okay anyway I'll watch it it's good please watch it because just one episode now because there's only one we usually like to wait until it's done but like uh I think the next thing I'm gonna suggest we watch we gotta go back and finish House of Dragon. Uh we started to watch it the other night and then we quit and that's when we watch companion okay okay but watch watch lanterns because it's good and buddy who's gonna be Jon Stewart uh Aaron P Aaron Pierre I was like I love the Daily Show that's the most Green Lantern Green Lantern you could ask for okay like he he just looks like he's gonna be a great Jon Stewart. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And then who was Ryan Reynolds like what Kyle Jordan he was Kyle Jordan there's another one too called uh Kyle Rayner uh who's the black guy john uh john stew john stew john stewart's the black guy okay and Kyle Rayner he's uh Kyle Rayner he's the baddest one of them okay of the three so maybe at some point but you can only have one green lantern on earth at a time will the show tell me all that stuff I don't know okay okay because I need to be in uh educated on the lanterns at the same time where we was talking about how the X-Men they're already established to stably we baby we get we're gonna get Martian manhunter nice like that's what it if you'll watch the first show like it they don't say that about the manhunters but that's what they're I can't tell you anything about it.
SPEAKER_03Okay but you'll see that's what they're referencing when how Jordan's talking about aliens. Like they're referencing manhunters who can look like anybody.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And they'll give you they'll give you why okay they and you can laugh at this if you want my all everything I know about Martian Manhunter comes from Supergirl the CW show Supergirl well it was part of the era verse but it was John John's is his name.
SPEAKER_03Jean Jones yeah John John John's John John's yeah yes yeah Martian Manhunter yeah he's fire like they're like uh like the krill in Marvel okay kind of like they can yeah yeah yeah except for the krill the krill can rem retain your memories and stuff and they can mimic you perfectly the the manhunters they can they just look like shape shifting they can remember all the information about a thing about something that a person likes but they don't know the context in which it's applied and and how Jordan will show you how that's exposed in the first episode. All right you've taught me into it yeah it's good you'll like I think you'll like it all right like it's dialogue and just exactly what it should be. I honestly think you'll really like it.
SPEAKER_01All right I love I love Peacemaker.
SPEAKER_03I love Peacemaker. Like it's I hope yeah the first episode is as good as the first episode of Peacemaker. All right excellent so you just gotta you know we're gonna we're gonna get get on this ride and go.
SPEAKER_01Okay. All right then well all right we'll call it for this episode hey I love y'all love y'all too and uh we will be back as soon as we can I love you too okay love you guys
